Natomas Oaks

From: gillespieba (gillespieba@yahoo.com) | Date: 2006-10-18 15:18:05 UTC
Has anyone tried to find the Natomas Oaks box recently (besides us)? I
tried to contact the placer to see if the box was still around, but I
did not get an answer. I have been trying to find it but I am unsure
if I am just looking in the wrong place or if it is gone for good. The
location is fantastic and if it is gone I would like to replant... but
I wanted to be sure the mistake is not mine!

Cheers!

I found it over a year ago, so know where it is. It is a VERY small
box, so overlooking it could be easy. (The log book was 1 folded sheet
IIRC.) Someone with the trail name "salad tongs" is listed on
Atlasquest as having found it in Feb 06, so maybe you could email them
to check. I don't live that far from it, so I could check on it if you
live a ways away.

& speaking of which, are you local to Sacramento?

I am local to Sacramento... I will give it a go once again just in
case I was looking in the right place but overlooked it. However, if
you are in that area again and have the opportunity to check, I
would appreciate it. I will give it another go this Friday and let
you know. Thanks!

This person is neck-in-neck with Eclipse Tuliphead for my favorite
name. I want to meet them, and call them Salad Tongs all day.

"Hey Salad Tongs, can you pass the salad tongs?"

tee hee

By the way, did anyone avail themselve of free theater tickets?
Lisa

It took us three tries to find it...good luck!

I spent an hour and a half roaming around looking for it the first
time. It is difficult to hang around one area that long poking in
holes and trying not to look suspicious! Not to mention I am sure I
was talking to my self trying to make sure I had the clues right...
*sigh* Maybe next time I should dress and a bag lady and then everyone
will give me a wide birth and I won't look so suspicious... and I will
have a better reason for talking to myself!

Sounds like my first experience with Scoopy! More things to have in your
letterboxing backpack: disguises for a variety of circumstances. Hmmm...
that brings to mind a good trail name... :-) (nope, not telling)

Well two tries down and still no luck... I think all we succeeded in
doing was second-guessing ourselves so much now that we are completely
clueless... *sigh* Oh well, we did have a very fun weekend of
letterboxing all the same, even if it did require a little lawbreaking
to get to the location of another box... which is now behind a
recently-erected chain-link fence
